The Man Behind the Mask

Draco Malfoy

I am not afraid to keep on living

I am not afraid to walk this world alone

Honey if you stay, I'll be forgiven

Nothing you can say can stop me going home

A life that's so demanding

I get so weak

A love that's so demanding

I can't speak

INTRO

Now I know

That I can't make you stay

But where's your heart?

But where's your heart?

But where's your...

SCHOOL SORTING

Can you see

My eyes are shining bright

'Cause I'm out here

On the other side

Of a jet black hotel mirror

And I'm so weak

School: Hogwarts

House: Slytherin

Wand: Draco’s wand is constructed out of Rowen wood and is approximately 14 inches long. The core is, against what others might expect, is unicorn hair…definitely something girly for this Malfoy, though it all makes sense now. The handle is engraved with his initials and he has plans to add in the initials of someone who is near and dear to him.

Pet: Even though the bird stays at home, Draco does own a hawk owl (only the best of course with the prettiest feathers) named Whittier. The owl used to deliver packages from home, but alas, since he has left home due to his unfortunate failure, he hasn’t seen the owl in a very long time.

Broom: In his time at the school, he has had two brooms…his first year, even though most first years didn’t have brooms (he was special of course), he owned a Comet 26. When he started his second year, his father bought him, as well as the rest of the Slytherin Quidditch Team, brand new Nimbus 2001 brooms…as a congratulation gift…yes, that was the story.

Other: Like his nemesis, Draco has many skills, which include flying (he was one of the earlier learners in his year…though Potter came along and stole that glory as well), Potions (which was no surprise seeing that Snape did favor him the most out of their house), Occlumency (which he had started learning when he was in his 5th year and was starting to get rather good at), faking injuries (how do you think he was able to cause so many problems for Hagrid his third year), whining to Daddy (well, there had to be a bad skill with all the good), and finding where you hurt the most and rubbing salt in it…self explanatory. Interesting Facts: Draco means a large serpent, dragon in Latin. Malfoy means bad faith in French.

APPEARANCE

So many

Bright lights, they cast a shadow

But can I speak?

Well is it hard understanding

I'm incomplete

Eyes: Gray

Hair: Platinum Blonde

Height: 5’10”

General Appearance: The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

In a family that was known for more than just allegiances and behaviors, looks were something of great importance, and Draco looks very much like his two parents. His pale gray eyes are cold, stormy, and steely, rarely showing any feeling other than anger, jealousy, and passion (whenever he is around the one person that elicits such a feeling from him). They are identical to his father, something that he takes great pride in. they grow darker depending on his mood, whenever he is really feeling something those pale gray eyes are a dark, stormy gray and not something that someone would want to mess with. Over the years, his hair has changed styles, but one thing has always remained the same, and that is the pale, white blonde coloring…almost platinum looking. The first two years he had taken to slicking it back, arching his forehead and giving him a more commanding look, but ever since his third year, he has been letting it grow out and hang about his face in a disheveled manner…he likes it better this way. His face is pale and pointed, remarkable traits of the Malfoy line, and because of it, he is easily recognized in a crowd, and can never really blend in…not that that is the Malfoy way.

Standing roughly at 5’10…making him barely taller than Harry Potter, his body is lithe and pale, though underlying muscles can be seen when he is wearing fitting clothes, his body toned from the many years he spent playing Quidditch (which he was actually kind of good at, seeing that he was always trying to one up Potter himself). He is already pretty thin and light, making it easier for him to dodge about people and escape sticky situations that he really didn’t want to be involved in. Lately though, due to all the stress from the past year (or so) and everything that has been going on, he has lost a considerable amount of weight, has grown paler than normal, and can seen very often with dark, blackish purple circles under his eyes. The Dark Mark is embedded on his left forearm, though he has come to sort of despise that mark, even though he won’t admit that to himself…and even though Voldemort is no longer, the damn thing just won’t come off, he has already tried and has rubbed several layers of skin away. His normal style lately is dark clothing, long sleeves, anything with hoods, desperate to cover up as much as possible when he goes out. Right now, it is truly an embarrassment to be a Malfoy.

PERSONALITY

'Cause I see you lying next to me

With words I thought I'd never speak

Awake and unafraid

Asleep or dead

Likes: The Dark Arts, Quidditch, flying, himself, being pleasured, pleasuring a certain someone, spending time away from those that try to influence him

Dislikes: muggles, the good guys that always bloody well win, being told to do things, being forced to do things that are impossible, not able to live up to his parents expectations, not being able to live his own life

Strengths: determination to survive, being very convincing with words, having money to back up what he says, intelligent (though some times he doesn’t show that), quickness to pull up spells to use in a bind

Weaknesses: push-over at times, can be seen as being cowardly, his father…he is willing to do anything for her father and sometimes that can get him in trouble, being unable to love easily

Patronus: A lone wolf

Boggart: Being ignored and treated like a mudblood

Personality Description: No doubt at all, this boy was meant for Slytherin.

Pompous attitude…being a born leader, Draco has no problems bossing other people around, even if they might be his “friends”. If someone is there and he needs something, a snap of his fingers and it is given to him without a second thought. Being told that he had to stand out and above the rest, this attitude has made him to be quite cocky (and this is more than just his image and up keeping it) and proud, never to be a disgrace or lower himself just to fit in with others. It was a disgrace to be below someone else (unless that was the Dark Lord above you). If there was no place for himself, then he had to make a place or he would just be lost with the mindless drones all about him and that was not acceptable for a Malfoy. If anyone gets in his way, he squashes them and doesn’t take their feelings into regard what so ever. Like his father, he is scheming and he comes up with ideas that others wouldn’t even think that he was capable of doing. Just because he doesn’t always handle the grunt work of a task doesn’t mean that he is weak in the mind, it just means that he doesn’t want to bother doing something beneath him…that is all.

Then there is the other side to him…

Jealousy…many wouldn’t think that the boy with the silver spoon in his mouth could even feel jealous about something or someone, but the one thing that Draco is jealous about most, is the fact that Potter gets all of the attention. Someone as horrible and mixed blood as Potter receives recognition for something that should have been his easily. It easily frustrates him and he wants to just knock him down a peg or two…settle things up. Not that he has any other grudge against the green-eyes boy, he just didn’t like that everyone talked about him as if he was a god…it was sickening. Only problem though is that when things get too touch for him, the stakes too high, he is easily scared and runs…that is his main defense…running, like a little baby and then gets someone else to take care of the matter. It was something that he saw his father do all of the time, so it should be all right for him to do. That and he whines to Mother and Father constantly when things don’t go his way and they usually are quick to make things right, though lately he himself has been cutting himself loose of those ties, it isn’t something that he wants hanging over his head…he is tired of being coddled.

And then there is the side that no one knows about…

Good student…Draco actually has a rather sound head on his shoulders and an intelligence that could match, if he only learned how to apply himself to something more than the wanting to learn Dark Arts. Even though most of the time he is seen goofing off during the lessons at the school, he really is handy with a wand and he is semi-decent with Potions. But alas, because he had to learn how to defeat the Dark Arts instead of how to use it, he pushed aside the ability to learn and progress in his studies and placed it elsewhere, into making those devious plots of his, working things out that people thought to be impossible. It was his sheer wits that actually got him through the last year of school, and if he had applied himself more, he probably would have been a greater threat to the wizarding community (good thing that he didn’t apparently). He still has a tendency to think up terrible schemes as a young adult now, but things are slowly changing…he is starting to see and learn more about the world about him and he is slowly starting to see things in a different light, furthering himself from the things that he knew. Love can do that to a person.

Harry taught him something after all.

HISTORY

These bright lights have always blinded me

These bright lights have always blinded me

I say

Parents: Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy

Siblings: None

History: The Malfoy line was always a powerful line.

Draco had a lot to live up to when it came down to his parents. Standing strong, tall, and proud (at least on the outside) Narcissa (Black) Malfoy is definitely the female image of her son, with her long blonde locks and her dark stormy eyes. Born in 1955 into a pureblood family, though they have had their fair share of…scandals, she attended school, starting in 1966, sorted into Slytherin and almost immediately hooked up with Lucius, through the help of her sister. Marrying him after graduation, she bore him one son, that she took to smothering almost right away, never denying him anything that he would ever need. Draco was definitely spoiled by his mother, which might explain part of his personality to date. In society she has kept up the façade of being a loving wife and mother, a snob to no end, but those close to her know how desperate she is to keep her son safe from the evils about them…from the clutches of Voldemort. Even though she may not show this when around others all too often, her first priority in life is for the welfare of her only child, after all, he was all that she had when Lucius was in Azkaban and she come to cherish him dearly.

His father is a whole other story though. Considered to be the exact replica of what Draco will be when he is older, Lucius Malfoy is definitely the premonition of what Draco is going to become if he doesn’t completely change his ways. Born to a pureblood family in 1954, he started school in 1965; sorted into the Slytherin house and forming that inseparable click almost right away, the click that would be paired off, married, and then separated later on. Such as the way of life sadly. Being a Death Eater, it is naturally assumed that he is scheming, calculating, and participates in insinuation of the weaker species, terrorizing of muggles, and bribing his way up in social standings. And if someone thought that he was something other than that, then they were a fool because he was a Slytherin to the very core and damn proud of his ways. He is very influential and if he wants something, he will do whatever it takes to get it his way…and does the same for his son, though he has reached the time where it needs to stop. Lucius is usually focused on number one, making sure that his way is set out before making sure that his family is set…it was how he was raised.

Like everyone could naturally assume, Draco came into this world with a silver spoon in his mouth. Born on June 5, 1980 he has spent his entire childhood living in the Malfoy Manor in Wiltshire, England with his mother and father and servants willing to be at his beck and call. Being an only child, he was greatly spoiled, but he had a very good childhood…he worshiped his father from afar and his mother gave him all the sweets he could ever want, while his father got him the best things, things that only money could buy. He couldn’t complain…though he did…quite often, but that was usually only because there was something that he really wanted. Planning on attending Durmstrang, he was forced out of that decision by his doting mother (she thought that Hogwarts would be safer for him…though she never came out and said that)…the one thing that he couldn’t have, but he got over it, returning to his normal lifestyle. And he lived that way until his letter for the school arrived, and the adventure that was to be his school years finally began.

Starting school in 1991, he didn’t even wait until he was at Hogwarts before causing controversy, starting the famous rivalry between him and Potter on the Hogwarts Express when Harry declined his hand of friendship, pissing him off…royally. But he tried not to let that bother him, though it really did, that tension boiling up throughout that year and the years afterwards. He is seldom seen about the school without his lackeys Crabbe and Goyle, but they are not equal friends…hardly…he is the ringleader and he will always be so. In 1992 he was placed on the Slytherin Quidditch Team as their Seeker and in his 5th year he was a Prefect. The things got rocky. His father was captured at the end of his 5th year, causing him to be ridiculed…this also caused him to move into the place of his father among Voldemort’s ranks, and where he was given the assignment…kill Dumbledore or your family was going to be killed…plain and simple. And unfortunately, even though he had a heart that was somewhat decent, it wasn’t enough to stop the wheels from turning…even if he wasn’t the one that ended up killing the old wizard.

Despite his failure, Voldemort still took refuge with his family and he was granted leeway of sorts, sending himself back to the school to rule from the inside, proud as always, thinking that he was on top of the world. He helped bring about the traitors among the students at the school and he truly believed that Voldemort would win the war. With Harry’s return, he saw to it to defeat the boy, but ended up getting himself into more trouble, his ass eventually saved by the trio. He never knew who actually saved him while he was “fighting” but that left a lasting impact on him. Draco always knew that he didn’t have the heart to be a Death Eater, but now that he was ousted as one, people don’t want to associate with him, leaving him wandering about, turned away from every job imaginable, and being smothered by parents who realized too late that they had placed their son in terrible trouble. He still lives at home with his parents who are coddling him like a baby, and he wonders when he will ever have the nerve and courage to move out…and who would accept someone like him that was known for doing traitorous things.

His future…doesn’t seem all too lively.
